(We were going to post Green Day's SNL performance, but somebody's being a douchebag and not letting anyone put it on the internet. So here's the Jeopardy sketch instead.)

Just in case you missed it this morning, we were one of the guest "music snobs" who took turns making fun of the new Green Day concept-album this morning on WFNX, alongside the Pill's Michael Marrotta (who had a busier weekend than us) and WFNX's Keith Dakin. Apologies for making them hit the "oh-shit-someone-cursed" button -- we were temporarily possessed by the spirit of Pat D.

Also, we didn't get a chance to expound on the one song we genuinely like off this record: "Horseshoes and Hand Grenades." Green Day are at their best when they're taking three chords you already love and turning them into something even awesomer. In this case, they're borrowing a bit from the Hives' "Main Offender" and splicing on the resolution from L7's "Pretend We're Dead." Or something like that. Whatever it is, they're not fucking around! Which, y'know, ok already, we get it. But maybe next time out we could get just a couple more songs about getting stoned and masturbating?
