Brooklyn-based indie-kids BEAR HANDS have toured with Passion Pit, so I can only imagine that when they booked last night's gig with Awolnation, the overwhelming sentiment was "shit, what a drag."

Or maybe not. It could be that I was the only one at the Paradise last night that thought that the vibe of headliner Awolnation's show was like walking into the party scene of a bro-tastic teen movie circa 1997.

Mikel Jollett might be the most charming lead singer ever. What kind of she-devil would break up with this guy and leave him stumbling through the streets, drunk and alone? Scratch that. THE AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT might be the most charming band ever. At the very least, they're the most charismatic alt band I've seen take the stage at the HoB in quite a few months.

New favorite jam alert! If you heard me ramble off the highlights of my rock and roll voyage to SXSW on WFNX this morning, you might have caught me giving an indie-rock tug-job to the UK's WOLF GANG. Caught them twice in Austin, first Friday at the Fader Fort by Fiat, and Saturday afternoon, as caught here on phlipcam, at Klub Krucial (the site of our First Contact party earlier in the week).

There was a moment, standing on line outside the Mohawk in Austin Saturday afternoon, a hahhard but extravagant Day 3 of #SXSW, where I wasn't too sure I'd get inside to see UK gazers YUCK, and well, really didn't care. The place was PACKED, a result of TV On The Radio playing the venue's outside tent, the same spot I think I saw MSTRKRFT several morning hours earlier.
