#OccupyBoston holds "historic" general assembly, decides on three reps for court-ordered mediation with city and police

Last night's GA promised to be extra involved, given Wednesday's court order prohibiting the city from evicting Camp Dewey until after a December 1st hearing, plus the letter unveiled yesterday revealing the Greenway Conservancy's request that the city to clear the camp. The majority of the GA was dedicated to choosing representatives to attend a court-ordered mediation between Occupy Boston and the City of Boston, Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, and Boston Police. Ultimately, using horizontal decision-making, three occupiers were chosen, in a decision that occupiers called "historic."

"The mediators agree to represent the statement of purpose of Occupy Boston and the Occupy movement," said a facilitator, reading from the final 5-minute-long amended proposal that was eventually approved by the general assembly. "And to be bound by the past and present consensus of the general assembly of Occupy Boston."

"We propose the small group be made up of Jennie Seidewand, Kristopher Eric Martin, and Alex Ingram," he continued later, "two of whom are residents of Dewey Square, and the third, a member of the Occupy Boston community. We recognize that it is impossible for any small group of our community to represent the interests of our entire community. But it is necessary for the immediate and long term survival of Occupy Boston."
