Hey, Ben Affleck just moved in downstairs from us
We got a new neighbor today -- for the next week, Ben Affleck and his crew will be kicking around downstairs from Phoenix HQ, filming The Town, a Boston-based crime drama Affleck is both directing and starring in.
After
shooting all morning at Fenway Park, the crew set up shop
in the vacant Boston Billiards building at 126 Brookline Ave. Then around 2:30 pm, crew members, extras, and cops streamed down
Brookline Ave. to eat lunch, which is when we decided to attempt to take surveillance photos. Although most of the movie
personnel were quickly ushered inside, a few remained outdoors to eat
chicken and swordfish at the buffet-style tables set up right on our doorstep.
We didn’t get a glimpse of Affleck himself (nor his co-stars Blake Lively and Jon Hamm of Mad Men),
but we did snap the above photo of dudes in FBI gear wandering around next to the craft services table.
Affleck and his crew will be camped out in Billiards until September 27. Set for a 2010 release, The Town is not the only movie being filmed in Boston this fall: there’s also The Zookeeper (starring Donnie Wahlberg, Kevin James, and Joe Rogan, recently spotted in the Public Gardens) and a Cameron Diaz/Tom Cruise project tentatively titled “Wichita” that’s being filmed in Somerville. And apparently, David Fincher’s new Facebook film, The Social Network, will be dropping by next month. (Did we miss any?)
