See these films: Seven Chances with live musical score @ the Somerville Theatre

Let's push the cinema clock back a bit, not just before 3D, but before color and even sound. After seeing Buster Keaton's silent comic masterpiece Seven Chances (1925) with a live score provided by Jeff Rapsis on a digital synthesizer, you might agree with those who think all these "advancements" have detracted from the essence of cinema. In it Buster has until 7 pm to land a bride or he'll lose his inheritance. The climax is one of the funniest sequences on film. Watch this, and then rent the 1999 re-make, The Bachelor, to see how much progress we have (not) made in movies since the '20s.
