See this film: Taxi Driver [newly restored] at the Brattle

"You talkin' to me?" has to be the most repeated movie quote of all time, although "Make my day" and "We're not in Kansas anymore" might be close seconds. Actually, those last two might also fit comfortably in Martin Scorsese's masterpiece Taxi Driver (1976), screening all week in a newly restored version at the Brattle. Certainly this electrifying, still startling account of rage and anomie on the streets of Manhattan has shaped American cinema of the last four decades in style, theme, and - with Robert De Niro's uncompromising performance - acting. The Brattle Theatre is at 40 Brattle St, Cambridge | Fri-Thurs @ 4:30 + 7 + 9:30 pm [no Mon show]; Sat-Mon @ 2 pm | $9.75; $7.75 students; $6.75 seniors | 617.876.6837 or brattlefilm.org
