Mistle Thrush reunion in January
UPDATE: The Mistle Thrush reunion is a part of the 2nd annual Soozapalooza, and advance tickets are abailable here. Also, keep it locked to the Facebook event page for full lineups and more info!
Boston’s ‘90s buzz-band reunion fever will carry over into 2011.
According to Todd Demma out on the west coast, Bedazzled Records’ dream-pop indie-goth darlings Mistle Thrush will reconvene for their first show in eight years on Jan. 22 at the Middle East in Cambridge.
The gig has yet to be posted online, but we’ll update you on ticket and lineup info when it becomes available. In the meantime, let’s play some catch-up, Mistle Thrush-style: Guitarist Scott Patalano currently plays with Gene Dante & the Future Starlets; vocalist Valerie Forgione is Newbury Comics’ executive vice president and writes music for various projects, bands and plays; and Demma — the legendary Depeche Todd — lives in Los Angeles and drums for Frank Black, David J. and the recently-disbanded rock skygazers Mere Mortals.
"How? Simply enough, we were asked by the event producer, Sooz, who was a long-time champion of the band," writes Demma to the Phoenix. "Why? For me, it'll be great to just play some songs I'm proud of with dear 'ol friends with no other agenda other than to have fun. As for Val's take, she said, 'Why? We love to play and who wouldn't do something that they love if someone asked?'"
Works for us. We’re unsure how the remaining 2011 Mistle Thrush lineup will shake out, so again, we’ll keep you posted.
