dreamchord, is a Boston-Based Alternative Band that blends and bends Ambient, Synth-Rock, Indietronica, Shoegaze, New Wave and Dream Pop genres. Balancing between the Cinematic, Futuristic and Retro, dreamchord's debut EP seems to be composed from a nostalgic perspective, relying more on sound than words to convey the band's message.
Gregory Thomas Huegel, front man to this sonic-explosion, grew up in the Metro-Boston area and eventually took his musical talents to Berklee were he graduated with a Degree in Film Scoring. He explains how he builds the band's soundscapes: visually. The audio-world that he's trapped in is one that he not only hears, but sees. His music is visual, much like a soundtrack to a movie, but the only film that's playing is a nostalgic journey through his past that lands us into the present.
Songs that not only take us back to the 80s and early 90s but tackle some of today's topics. The best way to describe his song writing is to refer to Huegel's personal mission statement, "I want to tell a story, without telling a story."
As we continue listening to the dreamchord EP, Somewhere between the words, and even in the moments between breaths, a story is ever-unfolding before our ears.
