MORE ABOUT JAM LAB

There’s a new band in town you should check out if you enjoy a fresh take on some of your favorite reggae, Motown, R&B and pop hits (Steely Dan anyone?) with a few choice original songs (Arc Welded, Good Legs, Liven It Up, Something’s Gotta Change). Sax man
Dan Magarrell writes the band’s originals and gives the band a sparkling blues-colored facet when he picks up his telecaster. Steve Nicarry plays tasty, blistering guitar and transforms his axe into everything from Hammond organ to steel drums to a full horn section with his Roland guitar synth. Vocally the band is very strong, lead by long-time Nashua area resident Rob Gual who sings about 75% of the tunes. Besides his singing, Rob also offers up solid, jazz informed rhythm guitar. Rob played the leading role of Nathan Detroit in a Nashua Actors’ production of Guys and Dolls a few years back. Bassist Jim Kelly joins the rest of the players in contributing backing vocals and provides the bottom end with authority culled from years of playing with many area groups including A Patch Of Blue, Blue Hotel and Sidecar. Dann Doremus is the group’s drummer and provides the rhythmic foundation, keeping the groove deep in his “hip” pocket. Dann is from Milford and has played extensively in the area including with the acclaimed experimental rock/jazz group POD.
