Jaye Drew and a Moving Train have proved themselves appropriately named with the momentum they have gained in their short time together. Fusing old-school funk, R&B and soul with cutting edge hip-hop and electronic influences, they are making a name for themselves wherever they are heard.
The foundation of the band is the voice of Jaye Drew, a veteran songwriter and vocalist from the Portland area. She has drawn comparisons to Fiona Apple, Lauren Hill and Dionne Warwick to name a few, and has garnered praise by some of the best in the business. Jaye is backed up by the Moving Train band, a handpicked group of some of Maine’s top music professionals, who are collectively versed in a number of styles including hip hop, rock, funk, blues, jazz, reggae and Latin music. The result is a show like no other, incorporating a mix of unique and soulful originals, stylish covers and high-energy rearrangements of old favorites. Moving Train’s professionalism combined with its fun-loving approach to music guarantees to bring a crowd to its feet and put a smile on every face.
Since forming in July of 2006, Jaye and Co. have been busy rehearsing and writing music. They are currently in the studio recording their first full-length album due to be released in the summer of 2007.
