MORE ABOUT JAKE BRENNAN AND THE CONFIDENCE MEN

Boston is cold. It makes you hole up, drink and write songs. Jake Brennan lives there. Jake used to play in a hardcore band but left that world to shake some things up. He grew up fast. Parents were divorced. That meant twice as many records to mine through. He fell hard for George Jones, The Clash, Bothe Elvises, Husker Du, Bob Dylan, Stax and Stiff. He likes guitars and harmony singing, songs that tell simple stories and songs that make you sweat. Hardcore Americana. Indie Rock-N-Soul. These days he likes the Comas, Gillian Welch, Jack White's hair and Supergrass. Jake's band, wiseasses all of them, are his best friends. They go by the name, the Confidence Men. Why? It's either because Jake had a jones for all things Scollay Sq. or because his band swaggers like Mick and Keith in a Tijuana Cockfight. They like the Band, Mother Of Pearl Snaps, Chuck Taylors, Hammond Organs, Old-School Barbers and Dirty Hair. Jake and the Confidence Men have been run up the Boston flag pole. They've also cut their teeth on the great american highway sharing bills with among others, Frank Black, My Morning Jacket, John Doe, Evan Dando, The Figgs, Tommy Stinson, The Comas, Steve Earle, and The Von Bondies. Their debut album, "LOVE AND BOMBS" came out a couple months ago on the mighty Yep Roc Records out of Chapel Hill. It's heavy, rent a wheel barrell and go pick one up.
