MORE ABOUT JD'S MEDICINE HAT
JD'S Medicine Hat is a collaborative effort by some of Southern Maine's hardest working musicians. Medicine Hat was formed when guitarist Jim D'Amboise teamed up with bassist Alfredo Grado and drummer Shawn Bissonneault. With members from some of Portland's most popular bands including The Red Light Revue, Jason Spooner, Rockin Vibration and The Phil Rich Big Band to name a few, the trio has performed extensively throughout New England. Having diverse backgrounds and musical tastes, they can seamlessly play a variety of musical styles. They classify themselves as "Funky Jazz" , although the band has an infectious sound that fuses many different musical styles. Thier sound can be compared to John Scofield and Charlie Hunter. The band is known for taking tunes from the jazz lexicon, particularly old tunes from the bebop era, and playing them with contemporary grooves and incorporating elements of blues, New Orleans funk, rock, calypso, and reggae. Joining the Medicine Hat Trio is saxophonist/ keyboard extraordinaire Daemian Allen, who fills out the sound nicely and brings a new creative element to the band. This is a group not to be missed.
