Biography
Strong as an ocean wave. Vulnerable as a rose petal. Lauren Flaherty’s voice and Songwriting gives listeners both comfort and catharsis accompanied by an infectious Rock beat. Self-taught before attending Berklee, Lauren fell in love with Rock music young, teaching herself her first guitar chords at the age of thirteen. Within just twenty-four hours of striking her first power chord, she began writing songs. Ten years later, after hundreds of original songs and a Songwriting award from Billboard, she has also become a formidable singer, winning spaces in ultra-competitive concerts such as Berklee’s Singer’s Night, as well as spaces in new fan’s hearts.
Performing in Boston and New York, Flaherty continues to hone her craft, playing energetic sets with a live Rock band and touching solo showcases, everywhere from Cambridge's Club Passim to New York's CBGBs. “Thanks to my education I can hold my own in any musical situation, but I learned the heart and soul you need to play a great show from Rock concerts. I want to make my audience feel everything I’m feeling… all of the joy, love and outrage. To create real art… and of course to rock out!”
