carmen's condition is rock and roll minus the pretension. Hell bent on creating music that strikes the chord of the group's collective influences, the band has created a distinct sound that is somehow familiar.
Taking their cue from such divergent influences at the Counting Crows, Better than Ezra, Elvis Costello, and -- of course -- the Beatles, carmen's condition writes music laced with passion. Each band member takes a singer-songwriter approach emotionally, investing their being in finding the spot in their soul where each song resides, and then opening up and sharing that experience with the audience.
Whether it's the incendiary wail of Chris' Paul Reed Smith, the crisp, booming percussion provided by Mordecai, the taut, expressive bass lines laid down by Dave, or the tenor of Devine's voice navigating from a whisper to a howl, carmen's condition is powered by the collective talent of the band's musicians.
Chris, Mordecai, Dave, and Devine are all veterans of various music scenes nationwide -- some good, some bad -- but in carmen's condition they have found synchronicity. In carmen's condition, they have found a future. In carmen's condition, they have found a musical home.
