• Though they didn't win the ROCK-OFF this year, pop band FYVE did turn more than a few heads, with a bubblegum pop sound bolstered by twin-sister harmonies. This past weekend they did the anthem at the New Britain Rock Cats stadium as part of a softball game hosted by ESPN and the JONAS BROTHERS and the "Sibilance" staff have to wonder if some Disney type might just take those kids on a whirlwind at some point.

• The collaboration that KATE SCHROCK and TODD RICHARD have going on will get even more interesting this fall with the addition of GLEN DACOSTA, legendary sax accompanist to BOB MARLEY, whom Schrock met during a jaunt down to Jamaica a decade ago or so. DaCosta will be playing some dates with Schrock and Richard, and is available for workshops and session work if you're interested. He's here through October.

• The new SPENCER ALBEE project, SPACE VERSUS SPEED? Just google it and find out for yourself.

THELIN and SYN THE SHAMAN have released a taste of their new album as TRAILS, a single called "Tiki Torch" that features KELLY MCKENNA (SLY CHI) and ALT. (DIRT COALITION). Pairing electric guitar (JEFF BARRELL), electronic beats, tribal congas, repeating and echoing vocals, and straight rap, it's like nothing you've heard before locally and very smart. Album this fall? Yes, please.
