2009: Year in video games

2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (Sony Computer Entertainment)
This was the year the PlayStation 3 got relevant — thanks in no small part to its first true killer app. Uncharted 2 is an action adventure as slick and satisfying as they come, throwing our affable hero, Nathan Drake, into one impossible situation after another. Hanging by his fingernails off a cliff, facing withering gunfire atop a moving train, even dueling a yeti high in the Himalayas — there's nothing our hero can't manage. Although it's garnered deserved acclaim for its breathtaking action sequences, Uncharted 2 also boasts a smart script, with better-than-average characterizations.
