Films at the Gate 2009
Chinatown Gate
Is the mean old heat bothering you? Let “Films at the Gate” kick
summer’s infernal ass into next year. Every September, this outdoor
kung-fu-film fest transforms the vacant lot at the Chinatown Gate into
an outdoor wonderland of furious beatdowns. It starts tonight with A Chinese Ghost Story (which Sam Raimi lightly pillaged for Army of Darkness); that’s followed by Jet Li’s Bruce Lee homage Fist of Legend on Friday, Jackie Chan’s breakout masterpiece Drunken Master on Saturday, and the wackadoo Shaolin Soccer on Sunday. | Hudson Street lot [between Beach and Kneeland Streets], Boston | August 27-30 @ 8 pm | free | 617.482.2380 or //www.filmsatthegate.org.
