Precociousness can be an annoyance if displayed in the service of pointless flash; but when a super-with-it 21-year-old can stroll into the LA world of chillwave and drop polyrhythmic beatbeds the way Will Wiesenfeld, a/k/a Baths, does, it's a wonder to behold. The debut Baths album, last July's Cerulean (Anticon), is packed with cresting waves, clanging pianos, and tweaked voices, creating a disorienting funhouse of relaxed-yet-jittery energy. Wiesenfeld's dense disorientation is a powerful new psychedelia for the '10s, and even worse/better yet, depending on your jealousy level, the kid can pull it off live.
