First Friday Art Walk

How big and unifying a socio-cultural phenomenon is First Friday in Portland? First, it was a popular night to go see gallery openings. Then, it became a night where you don’t see any art because there are too many people you know (or are hiding from) in the way. Then a moving van filled with art (or sometimes a dozen drummers) started roaming around. Then, bands started playing like literally from up on high. And when that became too familiar, other bands started crashing ATM machines for impromptu DIY dance parties. We await this summer’s cacophony of aural and visual hyperstimulus.
