Kris Johnsen

There’s something sinewy about the work of Kris Johnsen, his posters and prints and T-shirt designs. Something that flirts with menace, the way the ocean looks lovely and wields ship-sinking power, the way a wolf looks like a dog, one that might eat you. We’re particularly fond of the posters he did for the band Caspian. And working with Bryan Bruchman of the HillyTown blog (the Phoenix readers’ pick for best blog), the two started the Portland Pin Project, inviting local artists to submit designs for one-inch buttons to be distributed via gumball machines.
