In the fall of 2008, the Dark Follies group performed its vaudevillian street act on a First Friday in Monument Square. The crowds loved the live drumming, belly-dancing, juggling, side-show acts, and fire dancing; what was supposed to be a one-time event expanded into frequent First Friday performances, plus shows in clubs and at local festivals. This week, Dark Follies will put on its first staged production -- "a full scale revival of the vaudeville variety show" at Lucid Stage -- but we hope they don't abandon the street follies that made them famous. | darkfollies.com
