Pete Kilpatrick
After snagging the Best Local Act award four out of the past five years and Best Male Vocalist award for three years straight, Pete Kilpatrick is Portland music's Man of Steel. Growing with each album, Kilpatrick and his eponymous band are constantly refining their style. Released this year, Shapes and Sounds, pulls back on his splashy, feel-good vibes in favor of a more somber style. Kilpatrick can wail and croon like any self-respecting lead singer, but what separates him is his range. Pushing his voice high and low, Kilpatrick can easily climb up and down any musical scale. Credit also goes to bandmates Steve Morell, Matthew Cosby, Nick Goodale, and Matt Lydon, who bolster every song with seamless momentum.
