Twisted Roots
In some ways, this win for Twisted Roots has been more than 20 years in the making. The band of heavy metal veterans released their first EP in 1989. During the mid '90s, they were Portland's rock and roll darlings, garnering massive local attention. They were named best local band by the Casco Bay Weekly, played to a sold-out State Theatre, and received extensive airplay on WCYY. While no longer in their heyday, this band are far from washed up. Characterized by heavy riffs, blistering metal solos, and crisp vocal delivery from frontman Pete Giordano, Twisted Roots have been able to stay current for more than two decades, and are strong enough now to pull down their first Bimpy.
