Election attracting urine stains
Drama queens and vampire squids
For those who have felt that the entertainment value of Our Little Towne’s mayoral elections has been in serious decline since the Bud-I’s extended stay in New Jersey, look no further than the RIFuture blog.

Has Obama peaked? Yes, he has
Yes, he made history. Unfortunately, it’s all downhill from there.
To listen to some pundits, Barack Obama's public image began taking a serious beating when the off-year election returns came in a week ago. Or maybe it was the undeserved Nobel Prize, his approach to the war in Afghanistan, or when he revved up his pursuit of national health-care reform.

Wall Street's death wish
Investing in mortality; plus, getting it right, and wireless, in West Virginia
If you read the front page of the September 6 New York Times , P+J hope you are either dumbfounded, appalled, frightened, or so pissed off that you went and got the Uzi from the attic and looked for the Amtrak schedule for the Northeast Corridor trains running to New York City and Washington, DC. At least it shows you are paying attention.

Men plus money equals mess
The financial crisis is a man-made problem. And it might not have occurred if we had listened to women.
Since Iceland is something of the epicenter of the global financial crisis — its government being the first to essentially go belly up — it's probably not surprising that the Icelanders have come up with the most novel and interesting theory as to what caused the meltdown. And they may be right.

53. Barack Obama's Cabinet Members
IDIOTS IN THE CUPBOARD
Nope, we’re not enamored of the cabinet members who actually made it through the confirmation process, either. Attorney General Eric Holder makes the list for his porn ’stache; Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood for that eyebrow and the Boris Karloff grin; and top treasury dog Tim Geithner for resembling Martin Short in a Conehead mask. Oh, and Geithner, thanks for all your hard work on the economy. You’re doing a heckuva job, Brownie.

Giles is one tough cookie
Plus economic outrage, the clueless Pope, and listening to 'The Angry Man'
Phillipe and Jorge could not be more pleased to hear that President Barack Obama has nominated Cynthia Giles, the director of Rhode Island's branch of the Conservation Law Founda-tion.

Mr. Populist?
Populism has many faces . . . but Obama's not one of them

Gen Jones rules
But will they be practical problem solvers or scatterbrains on steroids?
One of the major themes of Barack Obama's political philosophy has been that it's time for America to move beyond the Baby Boom Generation's petty partisanship.

No laughing matter
Anger, Obama, and AIG. Plus, doing nothing on Beacon Hill.
The funnymen Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have a big edge over supposedly serious bloviators employed by the networks.

A great little performer
Obama administration stubs its toe with the tax-challenged
If this doesn't convince you that no one with lotsa bucks plays by the rules, and that insider trading is rife on Wall Street, along with obscene bonuses collected by what are essentially crooks, with no morals, at most big lending institutions, how would you like to buy that bridge to Brooklyn at the lower end of Manhattan?
