• More albums continue to be scheduled for May release. A day before the ISOBELL release show, PUTNAM SMITH will drop his second full-length, Goldrush, on May 29. Americana and roots fans, take note.

• More immediately, SANDBAG member ILL BY INSTINCT drops his debut full-length MAiDEn Voyage at the Big Easy May 16. A hip-hop joint, IBI is supported by beats created by Sandbag cohort SHUPE, and generally shows himself to be an MC in the vein of other witty quick-rhymers like BREAD and BRZOWSKI. You know, he's the type who likes to battle and generally does okay for himself. EMBEN DIGITAL supplies digital distribution starting May 19. APE and UNDU, LABSEVEN's MELLO, and SLOUCH and ADAM B help Ill By Instinct celebrate. The "Sibilance" staff hope to get a more thorough review out of Pfeifle when things calm down a bit.

JERKS OF GRASS will debut at number seven on the jambands.com radio chart in the June issue of RELIX, alongside the likes of DEREK TRUCKS and LITTLE FEAT.

• Jazz types LARS VEGAS will celebrate 20 years of music-making with a show May 30 at the Empire. Offshoot bands LE PRESTIGE, from Boston, and MISS AMANDA JONES ('round here) will get down on the get down, remembering Lars' meager beginnings in a garage on Washington Avenue.

• The SUN GODS IN EXILE have a release show set June 26 at SPACE for Black Light, White Lines, the stoner-rock album to be released on SMALL STONE RECORDS June 9. Might be a little loud for the venue, but we're not complaining. The album's actually been available on iTunes since March 31, though, so check it out now if you're inclined.
