"2 Degrees Portland"

250 Anderson St, Portland, ME   (view map)

RUNNING ON | Several civic hangouts today offer the chance to meet pals and see how the city ticks. The Bayside multipurpose studio Running With Scissors hosts “2 DEGREES PORTLAND,” a networking event and artists’ reception for makers navigating the creative economy. That’s in the complex at 250 Anderson St. at 5:30. No charge. Later, some city organizers form a panel at the Maine Jewish Museum for the second in a new series of discussions, tackling the “SILENCE/NOISE” dichotomy as it relates to public space. That’s 7 pm at 267 Congress St. — which is also the hour PETER KORN, the founder and director of the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, begins discussing his new book of creative practice koans, Why We Make Things and Why it Matters, at Longfellow Books. All are free.
