WIDE EYED | ANIMAL COLLECTIVE are probably the group most responsible for making noise a household genre. Their music is brilliantly, rabidly cacophonous β€” or at least two of the three. It’s lately been tempting to speculate on their demise β€” especially as co-songwriter Panda Bear splintered off to make two fascinating albums of his own over the last five years β€” but alas: the group released Centipede Hz last fall, a radical departure from the tremendous and comparatively pop-minded Merriweather Post Pavilion, and seem to have perfected the art of not falling into a rut. With PC WORSHIP at the State Theatre, 8 pm; $25-30. 609 Congress St., 207.956.6000.
