NO STRAIGHT READ | Following last week’s provocative book readings by Steve Almond (who read erotica) and Ian Svenonius (who conducted a séance), SPACE Gallery hosts another unorthodox presentation of the written word. Via the Maine Women Write organization, five local authors will present their books in original collages of six-minute presentations. MONICA WOOD (the ’60s Maine memoir When We Were the Kennedys), BARBARA WALSH (the elegiac war memoir August Gale), DEBRA SPARK (the imaginative short story collection The Pretty Girl), MORGAN CALLAN ROGERS (the coming-of-age novel Ruby Red Heart in a Cold Blue Sea), and the nationally acclaimed ANNIE FINCH (the multi-dimensional Spells: New and Selected Poems). They present at 7:30 pm; $5 suggested donation, at 538 Congress St. 207.828.5600.
with readings from Monica Wood + Barbara Walsh + Debra Spark + Morgan C. Rogers + Annie Finch
