Sorcha & the Clearing + Rusty Belle + Connor Garvey Band
TAKING SHAPE | The smart, sultry songs of Sorcha Cribben-Merrill, long a solo artist in Portland’s contemporary folk circuit, were recently fitted to a five-piece band that includes vocalist/drummer Chas Lester (Fogcutters, Bass Box, Kenya Hall Band), multi-instrumentalist Patia Maule (Forget Forget, Ramblin’ Red), bassist Adam Montminy (Eric Bettencourt’s band, Line of Force), and guitarist Joe Farrell. Now SORCHA AND THE CLEARING, the move should fit the songwriter’s growing repertoire nicely, as the band make their debut tonight at One Longfellow Square. With the folk-funky vibe of the CONNOR GARVEY BAND and RUSTY BELLE, a Western Mass mashup of post-punk cabaret and Americana. 7:30, $10-15 at 181 State St., 207.761.1757.
