TAKE ME TO THE RIVER | In Biddeford, Stanford poli-sci professor Shanto Iyengar leads a lecture titled “FEAR AND LOATHING ACROSS PARTY LINES: THE POLARIZATION OF AMERICAN POLITICS” at UNE’s Ketchum Library at noon, while in the afternoon, the contemporary arts venue Engine hosts a regional arts and crafts fair they’re calling “ANTI-FREEZE.” The one-day only, pop-up event has standards (all vendors’ wares must be handcrafted), and should be a compelling showcase for a unique community of makers. 3-8 at 265 Main St., call 207.229.3560. Then, the Brooklyn noise-pop band MOUNT SHARP, featuring Hillytown’s Bryan Bruchman and ex-Mango Floss singer Sarah Wood, play the dimlit venue Oak and the Ax at 8 pm, with Portland country-folk group IF AND IT. 140 Main St., visit oakandtheax.blogspot.com.
