Debatably more famous (in part from being one of the world’s least offensive ska bands) is THE SKATALITES, the first-wave rocksteady band from Jamaica. Originally formed in 1963, the group are basically a retrospective act nowadays, though they continue to feature original saxophonist Lester Sterling, still cookin’ at 75. A rare and welcomed opportunity to trace an unfortunately disfigured genre back to its meaningful roots. 9 pm, $15-30, 504 Congress St, Portland, 207.899.4990.
