The Worried Well

The Worried Well cosmos aligned in 2007 when Paula Pearce (Lead Vocals, Guitar) and Gregory Hallowell (Vocals, Guitar) stumbled onto each other during a search for “free stuff” on Craigslist. It quickly became clear that music was the real draw and Greg recruited long-time Sad Marvin band mate Matt Doyle (Guitar, Percussion) to join the musical circus and the acoustic trio The Worried Well came to be. The band hails from 3 unique areas of the world: Cardiff Wales, Needham MA, and Calais ME making this chance meeting that much more ironic. The Worried Well propelled quickly into full musical motion by a shared love for red wine and cheddar cheese, Beck, chicken dance-offs, and giraffes. The Worried Well play a no frills array of acoustic Indie rock and have been strongly influenced by the sounds of Radiohead, The Smashing Pumpkins, Nick Drake, and Elliott Smith. Their alternative guitar tunings, contemplative vocals, and female/male harmonies share the musical stylings of such artists while maintaining an up-tempo rhythm. The band’s 2008 original five song EP Giraffes on Grass will provide the ears with a dark yet satisfying, deep yet melodic, blend of up-tempo acoustic soundscapes. And, they like giraffes.
