Unlike most string quartets, Ethel plays with amplification and integrates improvisation into its performances. Its members include Mary Rowell and Cornelius ", Neil", DuFallo, violins, Ralph Farris, viola, and Dorothy Lawson, cello. DuFallo replaced the quartet's previous violinist, Todd Reynolds.
